NEW November 25: This week marks the kick-off of two new positions as Strategic Advisor Water Management and Flood Safety. Since this week I started a new assignment at the policy department of Waterschap Drents Overijsselse Delta (Dutch regional waterboard) supporting the team in their work to make the region water secure towards 2021. It’s a real pleasure to join a team of very knowledgeable and visionary colleagues who are able to translate the enormous challenges the Netherlands is facing at the moment in terms of flood safety, land use planning, nitrate deposition and water quality amongst others, in strategies towards 2021 and creating awareness among decision makers that action is required now in order to achieve a water secure future in 2021.
At the same time, I started the position as Strategic Advisor to the Partners for Water Delta Team India (RVO – Dutch Enterprise Agency), supporting the department of Irrigation and Waterways of the state of West-Bengals with the implementation of an action plan for livelihood improvement in the Sundarbans mangrove reserve. The action plan was informed by the findings from a DDR mission that took place earlier this year. One of my tasks will be to engage with development Banks (ADB, World Bank) to explore how investments to reducing river erosion risk can be picked up for financing by the World Bank or ADB or other development partners. This position provides me the ability to combine my technical expertise with my experience in World Bank operations and water diplomacy.
May 19, 2022 – Last week, Studio Flow submitted the final version of the Climate Adaptation Market Study report to RVO. The findings were presented in a workshop with RVO and Dutch companies. November 12, 2021 – Studio Flow together with Water Bridge Myanmar have been assigned contract by RVO (Dutch Enterprice Agency) to prepare a Market Study for Dutch private sector firms active in the field of Climate Adaptation in three countries: Vietnam, Philipines and Indonesia.
The project has started in December 2021 and final results are expected by March 2022.
July 1, 2021 – Studio Flow signed its first contract: Strategic Framework for Integrated Sub-Catchment Management of Trung Giang River, Quang Nam Province in Vietnam.
Together with Arcadis and partners, we’ve been selected to prepare the Strategic Planning Framework for Integrated Sub-Catchment Management of the Trung Giang River in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam. To address flood risk and navigation enhancement of the Trung Giang river, Guang Nam Province. Guang Nam PPC has requested the Government of the Netherlands, through the Partners for Water Programme, to provide technical assistance to the Province on flood resilience, river bank protection and navigation enhancement of the Trung Giang River as well as capturing integrated river basin planning concepts in a Strategic Framework for sub-catchment management of the Trung Giang River.
My role in the project is Integration Manager, responsible for the integration of concepts on integrated river management and flood resilience in the Strategic Planning Framework, as well as application of the Strategic Planning Framework for identification of priority investments that can be implemented under the World Bank Integrated Resilient Development Project (IRDP). The project is funded by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
